The challenge
Initially, the client intended to have the work carried out via England, but the costs involved proved extremely high. Furthermore, upon arrival, the crack turned out to be far more serious than the previous report had indicated. It was more than 15 mm wide, with displaced sheet metal and a structure that caused new cracks to form during the work.
As a result, we had to adjust our plan on site in order to carry out the work safely and to a high technical standard. Given the limited time available, we had to switch gears quickly and work long hours while still ensuring a high standard.
Solution and preparations
We assembled a team of certified welders who were able to begin work straight away. As the vessel had to depart earlier than planned, working days were extended and we started earlier in order to complete the project within the set timeframe.
Thanks to our 24/7 availability, the work could be carried out at the weekend without causing any delays to the vessel’s schedule. The expertise of the team made it possible to carry out the adjusted work method safely and to a high professional standard.
